Okay, if you've stuck with me this long you'd know that I love trying new restaurants and different food items.
I'm always in search of the latest and greatest, and breakfast is my number one favorite. I'm pretty sure I could eat breakfast or brunch at any time of day. It just hits different when you eat it at an "abnormal" time. Am I right, or am I right?
About a month ago, my best friends and I headed east to Manuela restaurant in Downtown LA.
The first thing that stuck out to me was the décor and the overall ambience of the restaurant. There was a comforting, "home-y" feel upon entering.
Now, we started off with the most perfect, moist and buttery biscuits. They were accompanied by whipped butter and a fresh apple jam. Not even lying - these were the best biscuits I've ever tasted. And, I'm gonna have to try to replicate these soon!

After the biscuits, we opted for BBQ charbroiled oysters. I've had many charbroiled oysters in my life, from the west coast to the south. Until this moment, the best ones I had ever tried were from Drago's in New Orleans, Louisiana. But, Manuela easily topped those. The flavor, texture and taste of these oysters were literally unforgettable. Sometimes, the topping can be so much that it overpowers the actual oyster, but not here! Do yourself a favor and order these. Thank me later.

Now, if you know me you know that eggs benedict and all its various renditions is quite possibly my favorite breakfast item. You can thank my Grandma Susan for that. She introduced me to it at a young age, and I've loved it ever since. So, when I saw that Manuela had an eggs benedict with a popover on their menu, I had to try it! And it did not disappoint. It was so different, but not in a way that would make you miss the classic version. It was innovative and tasty and I would 100% order again.

After all of the food we ate, how we could we possibly have room for dessert?! I don't know, but we did. I don't care what you eat - YOU. MAKE. ROOM. FOR. DESSERT.
These beignets with powdered sugar and raspberry jam were nothing short of satisfying. The beignets I tasted in New Orleans weren't even this light and fluffy. A winning 10/10 from me.
