Out of Season

Imagine yourself eating a piece of your favorite fruit.

If it's strawberry, or watermelon and mango doused in tajin like me, then you're in good company.

And those fruits are the best in summer! Because they're in season.

If you tried to eat the same types of fruit in the dead of winter when citrus would be the better choice, they wouldn't taste as great as they do from May through September.

They would be out of season.

Let's talk about our own lives for a second...

Can you think of something you've been praying for, but that you know you wouldn't be equipped for right now? That's not to say that God won't ever bless you with what you've been praying for and what He knows you desire; quite the contrary, He loves you too much to give it to you out of season. Much like the fruit we spoke about earlier, the blessing wouldn't be as sweet.

This could be for many reasons.

You may not be in position for what you're praying for. Or, God could be building your character up. He could be establishing your finances. He could be increasing your level of discernment. He could be sharpening your leadership skills. If you're waiting for your life partner, He could be working on you both individually, before He decides to bring you together in His perfect timing.

If He gave you what you're asking Him for before it's time, it would be out of season and you wouldn't be in position to receive what He has for you.

Just as a farmer waits on his crops, God is waiting until the right time to reveal to you all that He has planned for your life (Isaiah 60:22).

Be encouraged. God says His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11).

It might feel like you're ready to receive "it," whatever "it" is, but trust that God's timing is perfect.

Our Father knows when a blessing is in season and you can trust that He won't give you what it's not time for.
